Samuel Beckett’s Irish Gastro Pub: Reviews & Ratings
An Excellent ,and Beautiful, Irish Pub in Shirlington If you want an Irish pub Experience in the heart of Shirlington, this is it. Our party decided that we wanted to get a good lunch. None of us had tried it but we like the Shirlington area so we picked this restaurant. We parked in the parking garage just walking distance to the south of their corner spot. As soon as you walk in you know you have arrived at a real Irish pub that was transported to the United States. The space has a bar in the middle, seating above, behind and in front of it. There is a bookshelf to one side of the bar, lots of wood and sayings etched into the glass by the bar. The tables seemed a mix of benches on one side and chairs on the other. The waitress was wonderful and funny and knew her business. Our group came to eat AND drink and so we tried many of their various wares on both sides. The place was very clean, not busy and the food came out quickly. We ordered the Shepard’s Pie, Steak Sandwich, Bangers and Mash, and Corned beef and cabbage. The portions were large enough that we ate our fill and still had several meals to take home. The prices were very reasonable ($10-25 for main dishes) for the service, quality, portion, taste and atmosphere. It was a wonderful and delicious experience that I would recommend for anyone in the area.
Fantastic pub with at least one server who really enjoys his work! Didn’t get his name, but he was genuinely interested and amusing. The beer and food was worth the drive, and we’ll be back sooner rather than later. Park in upper level of garage; pay attention to signs and it’s free!
The food is amazing, and the portions are generous. The service has been good so far, but the place is quite dusty. Maybe it’s part of the vintage aesthetic? Still, it feels a bit uncomfortable to eat in a space that isn’t obviously clean. Overall, though, we had a great experience with delicious food and excellent service. We’ll definitely be back!
I have had the chance to dine and drink at this pub on several occasions and each one was great. I would recommend this pub for its food and beer whether it’s for lunch, dinner or happy hour. The food is well prepared, tastes great, and the service is on par. The pub boasts ample seating indoors and outdoors. Parking is easy with the numerous garages nearby. I will definitely be going here again soon.
GREAT pub food selections, primarily with an Irish theme but with alternative menu choices that make this a great choice for all. I happened to choose THE BEST fish and chips I've ever had. Amazing selection of beer, cocktails and even wine. Phenomenally helpful and attentive staff, working in a fun and comfy environment. Highly recommended!
Excellent food for very reasonable price. Happy hour specials are good as well. Baked brie was very good. Corned beef and cabbage was amazing, esp the sauce, though the cabbage was still a tiny bit crunchy. The fried green tomatoes have a caprese take, which I wasn't crazy about, and they were a look over done. Highly recommend. Will be back.
Very very pretty inside, spacious with lots of pictures of famous Irishmen, golden walls and vintage beer/whiskey bar mirrors. Back area actually feels a bit like a little pub. Staff is super nice and the bathrooms are clean. Corned beef and cabbage was very good along with fish and chips. Cool experience for a mid-upper nova price range.
First time here, it was so great. It wasn't super busy, we went on a Saturday evening. We sat outside, the vibe was great. We sat off to the side of the building, I liked the lights they had. The food was very good, the portions were good for the price I believe. I got a shepards pie, fried calamari, deviled eggs, and their chowder of the day which was salmon with rice. Everything was very good and the waitress was attentive. Will definitely go back.
